Structural insulated panels (SIPs) are a high performance building system designed for quick, efficient and cost effective residential and light commercial construction.
SIPs are manufactured under factory controlled conditions, which significantly reduces waste and number of possible mistakes that can happen during construction.
Factory tolerances are +- 2mm per panel of upto 3000mm size, which means things like uneven walls/floors and building settlement are a thing of the past.
The panels consist of an
insulating foam core
sandwiched between
two structural oriented
strand boards (OSB3).
The panels are joined
together with the use of
structural spines located
in preformed rebates within
the EPS core. When engineered
and assembled, the SIP wall
and roof panels provide
the strength, insulation and
structural envelope of the building.
A warm SIP roof does not require
trussels and is mounted on a structural beam.
The load-bearing SIP panel provides the strength and the insulation, creating a habitable attic space without any further insulation required.
With rapid changes being adopted in the Building Regulations to make buildings more efficient, SIPs consistently meet and exceed the requirements through off-site manufacture and a rapid build programme to deliver thermally efficient and airtight buildings which meet modern sustainability targets. SIPs structures eliminate on-site waste and labour intensive activities, which in turn reduces overall build time to ensure a cost-effective building method.
